Join us for a fantastic trail half marathon at Sweetwater Creek State Park.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This race course offers 13.1 miles of winding moderately difficult trails in and around the Sweetwater Creek State Park, following the lovely rapids of Sweetwater Creek, and venturing past Civil War-era textile mill ruins.  These trails vary from sandy and flat to hilly and technical.  You will pass over a couple of small creeks throughout the run.  The conditions for the race can be unpredictable; one year we ran in six inches of snow, while during another we ran through the set of a major motion picture filming at the park (Killing Season with Robert De Niro and John Travolta). There will be a 4 hour time limit for this race.  Due to the terrain, this is not a course that can be hiked in the allotted time.  Formal course support will end at 1:00 p.m.

**The course will utilize trails both in Sweetwater Creek State Park and on private property. It will be marked using pin flags, ribbon, and signs.**

**No wheels of any kind or pets are allowed on the course.**

AID STATIONS

The distance between aid stations will vary between 2-4 miles, so plan accordingly.  All aid stations will provide water, and some will provide sports drink and snacks.  However, this race is a trail race, so we're not able to have aid stations every two miles.   Participants are strongly encouraged to carry a handheld water bottle with them, which aid station volunteers will happily refill (why not cut down the waste of cups?).  Also, if you have trash, please do not drop it on the trail.  Trash in, trash out is the motto of trail running.  If you can't carry it on you, please deposit any trash at an aid station, but PLEASE do not litter on the trails!

AWARDS

Awards will go to Women/Men:  Top 3 overall, 1st place Masters
